AURORA | From the first swing of a golf club in March to the last pitch on the final day of the baseball season in June, the recently completed 2024 spring prep sports season is chalk full of things to reflect on for Aurora’s high schools.

A total of three team trophies — one Class 5A state championship (for the two-time defending champion Cherokee Trail boys track & field team) and two for 5A runners-up (the Regis Jesuit baseball and boys swim teams, both of which finished behind rival Cherry Creek) — came to the city, while a combined 14 individual state championships between track & field and boys swimming were achieved.

Below that top level of glory were individual and team successes and achievements that flew slightly under the radar for many, but are worthy of exploration.

The best performances in each of the sports will continue to be highlighted by the Aurora Sentinel in the coming weeks in the All-Aurora teams in baseball, girls soccer, boys swimming, boys and girls track & field, boys and girls lacrosse, boys volleyball, girls tennis and girls golf, but take a a look at some notables for each Aurora high school from Sentinel Sports Editor Courtney Oakes.
