GOLDEN, Colo. | A small group of gun control advocates protested outside Mitt Romney’s campaign stop in Golden on Thursday.
About a dozen members of Colorado Ceasefire and Mayors Against Illegal Guns demonstrate outside the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Golden.
Mayors Against Illegal Guns is led by New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston mayor Thomas Menino. The group is pushing for both Romney and President Barack Obama to come up with a plan to address gun violence.
Colorado Ceasefire is led by Tom Mauser, whose son was killed in the 1999 Columbine shootings.
And they are protesting against Romney for what?? Asking Romney and obama to come up with a plan to address gun violence? What are you lunatics?? Romney is not even in any public office…you list him with the president like they have the same power…you could say the same thing for every senator or congressman…what we got is a bunch of left wing trouble makers causing problems for nothing….have them arrested…convicted….sent to prison(no less than 10 years)…then shipped to siberia(in winter).
where do we start? with the politicians or the protesters?
Really, I’m just kidding. I truly do support voicing one’s opinion at a public forum. most folks just don’t understand that somewhere in these “Peace in our Time” type movements, someone is making a lot of money. So ask yourself where is the money supporting these groupthink organs coming from and where is it going too?
On the one hand, I have the United States Supreme Court telling everyone involved that I have a Constitutional Right to keep and bear arms. I have the right to defend myself, my loved ones and my home. Now I hear Liberals calling for the ban of ammunition sales. And the UN wants to abrogate your rights?
An interesting point came up in Afganastan(almost the fifty first state?) in so far as gun ownership is concerned….it is legal to own and carry an AK-47 style weapon in public, and that idea came from the United States State Department. It is said by powers that be there that the legal carry for personal defense reduces violent actitivities in that country and people are more polite to each other.
NYC and Boston and Chicago have an absolute ban on gun sales and/or ownership in their city limits. And their violent crime rates are what?? The state of Florida went with a legal CCW law a few years ago and the violent crime rate went where?? Did you say down?? Everyone has been to Detroit, haven’t they?
I personally practice gun control but not at the professional level. I do use both hands to grip my weapon of choice, maintain a steady sight picture of the target to be destroyed, squeeze that trigger on the first round and I never draw out my weapon as a threat….it will be used if I have it in my hand. That last is my concession to being a “civilized man”.
I support being against “illegal guns” such as the 2500 the ATF/DEA sent to Mexican drug gangs. I am against convicted criminals and the criminally insane having access to any firearm. Parents need to educate their children on the subject of just why the founding fathers thought it so important that we the people have access to “arms” that they made it the second amendment of the US Constitution.
