DENVER (AP) — The Colorado Rockies used the 10th pick in the draft Monday night to select outfielder David Dahl from Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham, Ala.

The 18-year-old who throws right-handed and bats left-handed batted .412 with 11 doubles, three triples, three homers, 17 RBIs and 18 stolen bases his senior season. Baseball America rated him the third-best outfield prospect in the draft.

Dahl, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 185 pounds, is the second outfielder the Rockies have selected with their first overall pick in the last three years, joining Kyle Parker in 2010.
