PARKER | The Overland boys soccer team returned to the Class 5A state playoffs for the first time in four years and nearly made a splash when it got there.

The 32nd-seeded Trailblazers — back in the postseason again after an absence that stretched back to 2022 — went toe-to-toe with top-seeded Legend Wednesday night at EchoPark Stadium and battled to the end of a 4-3 loss.

Coach Mazen Kayali’s Overland team finished the season won two more games than the 2025 season and finished 5-5-6 overall.

The Trailblazers fell behind in the opening half against the co-Continental League champion Titans (12-1-3), but got the equalizer in the 26th minute. Senior Hammam Swissi took a free kick opportunity and served it into the box where junior Hemdry Campose headed it off the bottom of the crossbar and into the goal.

Legend outscored Overland 3-2 in the second half to win the contest and advance to a second round matchup against 16th-seeded Heritage.
