LAKEWOOD | Snowfall that arrived earlier than expected has forced the postponement of the Class 5A/4A state track & field meet, the Colorado High School Activities Association announced Thursday morning.

TRACK & FIELD

Officials headed to Jefferson County Stadium, site of the meet that scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, and found wet conditions on the track and snow on the infield, enough to make running events prohibitive according to Ryan Casey of CHSAANow.com.

The meet schedule will tentatively be moved back a full day, meaning the last day is now likely to be Sunday instead of Saturday. Friday’s forecast is equally unkind, however, so CHSAA will make another determination on Friday morning.

Whenever it begins, 71 boys and girls individuals and 40 relay teams from 10 Aurora programs are set to compete in the 5A/4A portion of the meet.
