Bryant finished his first nine holes at 2-under, but four bogeys on the back nine brought him in at even and put him in a tie for 14th after one round in a field of players from 11 Western states, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico competing in the 44th annual event.

With Daniel Pearson and Cole Krantz shooting 73s, the Colorado team is ninth in the 18-team field at plus-2, six strokes behind the leading group from Southern California.

Jackson Solem turned in a 74 to round out Colorado scoring.

Play continues Wednesday, with Bryant set to tee off at 9:30 a.m.
