HIGHLANDS RANCH | The Vista PEAK boys basketball team got within a win of a third straight trip to the Sweet 16 round of the Class 4A state playoffs, but coach Keenon Clement’s 24th-seeded Bison lost 72-58 Feb. 24.

Senior Te’Rae Johnson posted his second consecutive 29-point effort, but it wasn’t quite enough for Vista PEAK, which also got 10 points from sophomore AJ LaCabe, but finished 15-10 overall.

The Bison did deliver Clement a win in his postseason debut with them with a 67-61 outlasting of 41st-seeded Standley Lake Feb. 21.

Johnson again scored 29, LaCabe finished with 15 and junior Jaerron Hunter had 12 as Vista PEAK held off the Garrett Martin-led Gators.
