QUID HAS HEARD that when it comes to talking the talk about Second Amendment Gun Nut Rights that should allow marksmen to pack a wallop and a hog-leg any damned place they want, any damned time, even hard-bitten conservatives at city hall speak loudly about oddballs and carrying their big sticks into council chambers. Seems that after a couple of open-carry types wandered in and out of city council meetings over the past couple of months, city electeds, hired hands and hired guns with badges decided it’s a bad idea. Packing hip-pistols is a sure-fire way of getting the attention they clearly crave.

City hoo-haws were split among themselves this week whether to look like weenie liberals who think carrying guns everywhere is stupid, or to buck up and toe the GOP Second Amendment line — and chew their nails off every time one of these weirdos wandered into city hall. The Weenie Party won this week 6-5, and so those so inclined must leave their bazooka’s in their cars. As to the rest of the Second Amendment deathmatch, Quid hears that happy-trigger proponents would be well served to enlist the services of Jeff Tomczak, who owns the Rocky Mountain Flag and Kite Company in Aurora. A staunch proponent of hip-holsters filled with the real deal, Tomczak has a sign on his store telling armed patrons to come on in. He thinks the city hall ban is bad news. But everyone who talks with Tomczak agrees that there isn’t a more charming, agreeable, accommodating gun-rights proponent in the state, and maybe the country. Rather than pissing off the nation with snakes like Wayne LaPierre and Ted Cruz, Quid suggests sending in Tomczak as a secret weapon that’s nearly persuaded this entire newsroom to come to work with a side gat.

AND QUID HAS HEARD the sleeper bill of the 2015 Colorado legislative session is Thornton state Rep. Joe Salazar’s no-more-redskin mascot bill. Seems an effort to make his point about how repulsive “savages” high school mascots are by showing mock mascots degrading blacks, Asians and Latinos fell flat with some sympathizers who were shocked. “..that’s the point,” said black Aurora state Rep. Jovan Melton, who gets it that being Native American and seeing ratty-looking ‘savages’ cartoons greet them all over school is no fun. Not getting the point? The Denver Post, deep into Sen. Cory Gardner flavored Kool-Aid these days, said the state, which regulates schools down to toilet paper and endless tests, has no business regulating offensive school names. That, they and many others feel, is a job best left to the redskins and the savages.

AND THAT’S ALL THE NEWS THAT FITS

  1. Criminals are not open carry permit types. They only allow you to see their gun when they are in the process of committing a crime.
Remember folks, when insanity busts loose on the innocent, councils job will be to make sure they position themselves alongside the Chief at the press conference AFTER an attack has happened to the community. Making sure they are surrounded by and protected by cops. Then they’ll argue among themselves as to where your memorial should be placed, if at all.
Do whatever it takes to get rid of Bob LeGare and Barb Cleland on that supposed “Safety Committee”. The only safety they’re worried about is theirs.

        1. Oh no don’t sick you crazy alter ego on me. I mean really it’s not my fault you don’t understand Colorado gun laws. Open carry does not need a permit. We have concealed carry permits here in Aurora not open carry. Welcome back to reality…

  2. Actually, libertarians have been openly carrying arms in working class communities, recently. It’s really intimidating for minorities and immigrants.
