AURORA | Police are looking for a man who they say tried to kidnap a 13-year-old girl Wednesday afternoon in north Aurora. The incident happened around 3:20 p.m. when the girl was walking home from school, police said.
The girl first noticed a suspicious car near East 13th Ave. and Moline Street and said the car drove by her several times.
At East 16th Avenue and Oswego Street, the girl said she saw the car parked near the corner and when she walked by, the driver got out and grabbed her arm.
The girl said she was able to pull away and the man jumped back into the car and sped off.
Police said the suspect is a Hispanic male in his late 30s to early 40s. He is between 5 feet 6 inches tall and 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build. At the time of the incident the man was wearing a blue baseball hat with “New York” in white lettering, a light gray zippered hoodie and khaki pants.
The car he was driving was a newer model Chevy Cruze or similar style 4-door sedan, light colored gray or brown car with tinted windows and a temporary license in the rear window.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information on this case to call Detective Sergeant Marc Paolino at 303-739-6120. Tipsters can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867). They may be eligible for a $2,000 reward.
