AURORA | Firefighters quickly put out a brush fire Friday morning in southeast Aurora, preventing damage to nearby structures, according to Aurora Fire Rescue officials.

No injuries were reported from the blaze.

Multiple people called 911 at about 11 a.m. to report a grass fire along road medians in the 4000 block of South Dallas Street, near the Kennedy Soccer Park.

As many as 12 fire and emergency units responded to the fire, which burnt an area the size of about three basketball courts, Aurora Fire Rescue spokesperson Samantha Hickerson said in a statement.

The fire took about 30 minutes to put out. The cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.

  1. Fire seasson seems to be here a bit early. Water shortage is here very early. Still, fireworks are not banned this year. A combustable situation for sure.

    We have front yard and back yard gardehoses CHARGED ready to use.
    Will wet our pine trees and shrubs wheneighborstart lighting fireworks.
    Arecommending everyone have their hoses connected.

    1. I wish my neighbors would clean up the 8 inches deep bed of line needles on thier side of the fence before lighing their fireworks this year. maybe they will yet do so.
