AURORA | A 35-year-old man was struck by two cars Friday night and killed while crossing mid-block on South Peoria Street, police said.
Officers were called to the intersection of South Peoria Street and East Tennessee Avenue at about 8:15 p.m. after reports of a pedestrian hit by a car.
“When officers arrived at the scene, they located the pedestrian, a 35-year-old Aurora man, who sustained fatal injuries in the crash and died at the scene,” Aurora police spokesperson Joe Moylan said in a statement.
An initial investigation revealed the man was crossing Peoria just south of Tennessee when he was hit by a southbound car on Peoria, police said.
“The impact sent the pedestrian into the northbound lanes of traffic, where he was struck by a second vehicle driving north on Peoria,” Moylan said.
The drivers of both of the cars involved in the crash are cooperating with the investigation, Moylan said.
The identity of the driver will be released by coroner officials.
