AURORA | The lockdown at Peakview Elementary School has ended after sheriff’s deputies arrested a car theft suspect nearby.
According to a statement from the Arapahoe County sheriff’s office, the school at 19451 E. Progress Circle in Centennial was locked down sometime before 12:30 p.m. because of a car theft in the area. The suspect was arrested and the lockdown lifted around 12:50 p.m.
Further details on the theft were not immediately available.
The sheriff’s office said the lockdown was only precautionary and there was not an immediate threat in the area.
