AURORA | A man is in critical condition and may not survive after the car he was riding in Thursday morning slid on slick roads and was broadsided by another car.
The crash happened around 6 a.m. on South Gun Club Road, according to Aurora police.
Two men were riding in an Acura traveling south on Gun Club when the driver lost control and swerved into the northbound lane where it was struck by a Ford Mustang.
Police said the driver of the Acura was injured but released from an area hospital. The passenger was seriously injured and police said it is unclear if he will survive his injuries.
The driver of the Mustang was not seriously injured, police said.
Police said alcohol and excessive speed likely weren’t factors, but they said it’s possible the Acura was traveling too fast in the icy conditions.
On days like today drivers are reminded to drive carefully, leaving sufficient room between cars and at a prudent speed.
