AURORA | The man shot Tuesday morning, Dec. 22, along East Iliff Avenue in Aurora has died, Aurora police said Wednesday.

Officers initially responded to the scene around 10:40 a.m. on a report of a car accident. When officers arrived, they found a man in a blue Volkswagen suffering a gunshot wound to the head, police said.

Aurora police spokesman Sgt. Chris Amsler said he was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition.

The Arapahoe County coroner’s office identified the man as 23-year-old Jevon Antwaine Bailey. The coroner said his death was a homicide and he died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Police closed Iliff Avenue in both directions between South Peoria Street and East Warren Avenue for most of Tuesday afternon to investigate the shooting.
