Aurora Police Department investigates a crime scene after a shooting at the corner of East Iliff Avenue and South Troy Street on Tuesday Dec. 22, 2015.

AURORA | The man shot Tuesday morning, Dec. 22, along East Iliff Avenue in Aurora has died, Aurora police said Wednesday.
Officers initially responded to the scene around 10:40 a.m. on a report of a car accident. When officers arrived, they found a man in a blue Volkswagen suffering a gunshot wound to the head, police said.

Aurora police spokesman Sgt. Chris Amsler said he was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition.
The Arapahoe County coroner’s office identified the man as 23-year-old Jevon Antwaine Bailey. The coroner said his death was a homicide and he died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Police closed Iliff Avenue in both directions between South Peoria Street and East Warren Avenue for most of Tuesday afternon to investigate the shooting.
Investigators are asking anyone who saw anything to contact Detective Matt Ingui at 303-739-6067.
