SACRAMENTO, Calif. | A recent graduate of a Central Valley university who was shot multiple times when a gunman opened fire in a Colorado movie theater is among the survivors of the rampage.

Petra Anderson, who graduated from the University of the Pacific in May, was shot four times with pellets during a midnight showing of the Batman movie. One pellet entered her nose and traveled through her brain.

A Colorado native, Anderson graduated with a major in music composition. In 2010, she composed and directed a musical tribute to veterans at the university concert hall. The 22 year-old was headed to the University of Maryland to pursue a graduate degree.

Her boyfriend, Austin Hogan, said that while Anderson was responding to doctors, she had trouble recalling basic information about herself.
