AURORA | A 56-year-old man died outside of the Aurora Regional Navigation Campus homeless shelter last week.
In a statement, city spokesperson Joe Rubino said staff at the campus found the man around 7 a.m. June 14, and emergency responders determined he died prior to being found.
There were no signs of trauma and the case is not viewed as suspicious, Rubino said.
The Adams County Coroner’s Office identified the man as 56-year-old Humberto Morales of Denver. The cause of death is under investigation.
Rubino confirmed the man was a participant in the Navigation Campus’ program.
“This is a tragic loss of a life,” Rubino said. “The ARNC is committed to helping those experiencing homelessness stabilize their lives. Unfortunately, many people from this population suffer from chronic health conditions and have often gone long periods without proper medical care. This is why the facility has partnered with Stride Community Health Center to host clinic space inside the facility. Our thoughts are with this individual’s friends and loved ones.”
