AURORA | Four people and several pets were displaced after an accidental garage fire damaged a home in central Aurora on Saturday night.
No injuries were reported, according to Aurora Fire Rescue.
Residents at a house on the 14000 block of East Baltic Place said they were awakened at about 9 p.m. by a fire alarm.
“When they opened the door to their garage, they saw heavy fire and smoke coming from within,” Aurora Fire Rescue spokesperson Samantha Hickerson said in a statement. “They shut the door and quickly evacuated from the home and called 911.”
Fire fighters searched the home and determined no one was inside.
“The fire was brought under control by 9:20 p.m., about 10 minutes after crews arrived,” Hickerson said.
Investigators determined the fire was “accidental,” but fire officials did not release additional details about the cause.
Four people, two dogs, two cats and one iguana were displaced by the fire.

By the time smoke sets off in-house smoke alarms, the garage fire may have greatly spread.
