AURORA | Some of the country’s most accomplished jazz bands will convene in Aurora at the end of the month for the 34th Annual Summit Jazz festival.
This year’s festival, scheduled for Sept. 28, 29 and 30 at the Red Lion Hotel on South Parker Road in Aurora, will feature a lineup of local and national acts, including the Titan Hot Seven, the Climax Jazz Band and the San Antonio-based act Jim Cullum Jazz band.
The bands will play four sessions in the hotel’s grand ballroom, a cabaret venue with unobstructed views along with dance floor and cash bars.
Passes are available for individual sessions or for the entire weekend, and range in price from $10 to $40 for individual sessions or $115 for entire weekend. As a special incentive for first-time attendees, half-price passes will be available.
The line-up includes acts such as the Climax Jazz Band, the Summit Hot Seven, the Jazz Cookers and the Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars. Acclaimed pianists Jeff Barnhart and John Sheridan will play, as will nationally acclaimed ensemble the Titan Hot Seven.
The Jim Cullum Jazz Band will return as one of the event’s headlining acts. In addition to their national tours and regular stint of shows at the Landing in San Antonio, the band plays a weekly nationally syndicated live program that appears locally on the jazz station KUVO 89.3.
