Who says that a museum of nature and science has to be all about musty dinosaur bones and creepy dioramas? The Denver Museum of Nature and Science is proving its pop culture mettle starting this week as the co-sponsor of the “Sci-Fi Film Series,” a collection of classic films set to kick off July 11 at the Denver Film Center at 2501 E. Colfax Ave. A joint effort between the museum and the Denver Film Society, the series comprises five sci-fi classics, including Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece “2001: A Space Odyssey,” David Cronenberg’s creepy take on “The Fly” from 1986 and “12 Monkeys,” Terry Gilliam’s confounding peek into the future and the present. The series runs until Aug. 6. Information: 303-595-3456 or denverfilm.org.
