DENVER | The ACLU has filed a federal class action lawsuit seeking to expand access under Colorado Medicaid to a drug to treat hepatitis C.

The American Civil Liberties Union suit was filed Monday. It follows lawsuits in other states that seek coverage under government insurance for a drug that has a high success rate in treating hepatitis C.

The Denver Post reports (https://dpo.st/2cpBTbw) the Colorado suit says Medicaid patients can get the drug only after their livers have suffered some scarring.

The Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, which operates Medicare, had no immediate comment on the suit.
