AURORA | Police are searching for clues and suspects after gunfire broke out in the parking lot of Town Center of Aurora mall Tuesday night, leaving one man injured.
Police were called to the mall parking lot at about 6:30 p.m. after reports of gunfire.
“Witnesses reported that a black Jeep Compass pulled up near a silver Subaru,” Aurora police spokesperson Kristopher McDowell said in a statement. “An occupant of the Jeep then fired several rounds at the Subaru.”
Witnesses told police an armed man then ran from the Subaru.
“He was later identified as one of the victims of the shooting,” McDowell said.
Police approached two other people inside Subaru, one with a gunshot wound to his left hand. The man was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment, and that injury was deemed to be non-life-threatening.
One of the people inside the Subaru was later arrested on an unrelated warrant, McDowell said.
Officers later found the Jeep at an undisclosed location and confiscated it, police said.
