The Aurora Center for Active Adults & Morning Star Adult Day Program honored eight 2013 Outstanding Volunteers with Red Jacket Awards sponsored by Bella Vita Aurora in recognition of their tremendous contributions at an annual volunteer celebration on May 16, 2014 held at Beck Recreation Center. The Master of Ceremonies was KEZW 1430AM Breakfast Club Host, Rick Crandall. The Red Jacket Awards were sponsored by Bella Vita Aurora.

Outstanding Volunteers 2013-14

In 2013, a total of 459 Aurora Center for Active Adults Volunteers contributed 18,888 hoursof service in support of the ACAA. At Morning Star Adults Day program, 60 volunteers contributed 2,345 hours of time. Combined these contributions are theequivalent of an over 10 additional staff valued at over $545,000.

Mayor Steve Hogan thanked the volunteers for their significant contributions to the City and presented volunteers with Years of Service pins. The mayor remarked that when he travels to other large cities (Chicago, NYC, etc.) their mayors are amazed at Aurora’s very large & active volunteer program. The mayor is quite proud to brag about the volunteers efforts.  The Mayor also recognized the AARP Tax Assistance Program for Outstanding Service to the Aurora’s Senior Community. In 2013 the AARP Tax Assistance Program at the ACAA with 26 volunteers contribution 3,238 hours and prepared 1, 054 Federal Returns serving 1,141 clients.
