It Takes a Village… Energy Efficiency Upgrades Provided to Greenleaf Apartments
YOUR NEWS — Aurora, CO | Archway Housing and Services, Inc., in partnership with ICAST (International Center for Appropriate & Sustainable Technology) and with funding and support from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) , Colorado Division of Housing, Citywide Banks, Mile High Community Loan Fund, The City of Aurora, Aurora Housing Authority/Metro East Housing and Colorado Health Foundation recently completed significant energy efficiency upgrades to the Greenleaf Apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado. Greenleaf is a 55 unit multifamily affordable housing community where the residents are enjoying new efficient appliances, lighting, HVAC systems, low flow faucets and low E glass windows etc., that make their homes more comfortable, safe and healthy. The children are ecstatic with their new playground constructed as part of the project. More improvements are planned to upgrade both the interior and exterior of the apartments.
A “green ribbon cutting” event open to the public will be held honoring HUD and other financial supporters of the project on October 24th at 11:00 a.m. MST.
Attendees for the celebration include: Rick Garcia (Keynote Speaker) Regional Administrator for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Region VIII, Ravi Malhotra, President and founder of ICAST, Mayor Steve Hogan, City of Aurora; Craig Maraschky and Elizabeth Gundlach-Neufeld, Aurora Housing Authority; Jeff Seifried, Executive Director of Mile High Community Loan Fund; Kirk Huggins, Citywide Banks; Pat Coyle, Colorado Division of Housing; Christopher Smith, Colorado Health Foundation; Robinson Lapp, President of the Board of Directors and Joyce Alms-Ransford, Executive Director of Archway Housing & Services, Inc.
“Support and funding from a host of public and private partners allowed for this important project to be completed, providing Greenleaf residents over 20% savings on their energy consumption” said John Elliott, Energy Efficiency Director at ICAST.
“Bringing new life to this community through all of the funding and support provided to the Greenleaf Apartments is what Archway Housing & Services wanted to accomplish. Every family deserves to have a decent place to live and Archway Housing & Services is proud to have made this happen” explained Joyce Alms-Ransford, Executive Director for Archway Housing & Services., Inc.
