One Book 4 Colorado
One Book 4 Colorado will be giving away books via public libraries, Colorado Reach Out & Read Clinics & Denver Preschool Program preschools April 7 through 21.
- April 6-12 Week of the Young Child
- April 14-20 National Library week

Winter Reading Program – January 18 through March 1
Escape from the end-of-winter doldrums & join the Winter Reading Program. Simply read three books in six weeks to win a prize! The annual Winter Reading Program kicks off on Jan. 18. Each branch location will host a special display featuring recommended titles for all ages, focusing on “Embracing Freedom.” Freedom, be it in the arts or sciences, the natural world or human society, personal liberties or individual perspective, is a powerful force in the human experience & a great place to start discussions with friends, families & co-workers. Sit back, curl up with a great book, CD, or movie & enjoy the Freedom.

Power of One: Embracing Freedom
The Power of One is the Aurora Public Library’s way of bringing discussion, exploration & creativity to our community. 2014 is the year of Embracing Freedom! Starting with our Winter Reading Program, we’ll provide avenues of armchair adventure & discussion as you explore new frontiers, debate new ideas & share in the triumphs of all those who search to reach beyond boundaries. Throughout the year, be on the lookout for special book discussion groups held in conjunction with the Aurora Fox Theater, a special series of speakers & many other fun ways the Aurora Public Library is striving to break free of traditional boundaries. We’re looking forward to a year of new discoveries & hope you & your family will join us in Embracing Freedom.

Presidents Trivia Contest

Essay/Art Contest
“What does freedom means to you & how do you find ways to express your freedom?”
Essays must be no longer than 800 words. Please ensure that all entries have the following information: Name, Grade/Category, and Phone number. Entries to be submitted to the Aurora Central Library no later than Mar. 1. Entries will be judged in three categories: K-5th Grade, 6th-12th Grade & Adult. Winners in each category will receive a $25 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble. Winners will be notified no later than April 15, 2014.
