COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. | A Colorado Springs woman wants compensation from the city after she was thrown to to the ground in handcuffs when she kicked an officer in the groin area — an incident recorded on surveillance video.
KRDO-TV reports (https://tinyurl.com/pang39b) Alexis Acker wants $500,000 for injuries to her face, head, teeth and jaw.
Police spokeswoman Catherine Buckley says she can’t comment because of the civil litigation and an internal investigation. She says the officer, Tyler Walker, is still on the force.
The incident occurred in 2013 when Acker was 18. The existence of the video was reported this week by the Colorado Springs Independent newspaper.
KKTV reports (https://tinyurl.com/q58fel8) assault charges against Acker were dropped in a plea deal.
Police had arrested Acker on charges of interfering in the arrest of her boyfriend.

People think this is a fairly new issue with cops. Nope. This wanton brutality has been going on for decades. Centuries. Anytime you get mental midgets with a God complex, these crimes will happen. The only difference is technology. Video has exposed a very old problem.
Did you happen to notice that she kicked him in the groin Vern? Okay with you? ‘wanton brutality’? I’m sure you and yours are on board with ‘cursing and spitting’ at and on cops too, correct? She got exactly what she deserved, probably less than she should have gotten. It’s called authority and civility Vern, this nation has grown closer to no longer believing in authority, thoughts such as yours represent that.
Neither are ok. We live in a country of laws. Please move to a third wold country or a distopian future where you can have local police or judge dredd exact justice at will. This “officer” deserves prison rape. She deserved to be charged with a crime for her actions. Not this.
But, you see the police officer was in charge of her, she was in custody, that brings a different justice to bear. She ‘must’ do as told, and when she kicked him, he reacted, as he should have. You suppose both are equal in this situation, they are not. Can you imagine if convicts in prison acted this way? No, he acted properly under this circumstance.
