Aurora hoops season extended with premier A-Town All-Stars game March 26

JALEN GUIDRY

School: Rangeview

Year: Senior

Height: 6-foot-1

2015-16 averages: 6.0 assists, 4.3 points, 2.4 steals

Season highlights: Rangeview’s undefeated season came to an end in the Class 5A semifinals when the Raiders fell short in a dual against Eaglecrest at the Coors Events Center, but the Raiders (26-1) had a spectacular run that netted them the most wins of any 5A team in Colorado and came up just short of earning them at winning the first state championship for the program since 1985. Coach Shawn Palmer’s team needed each and every one of the 10 players who saw the floor regularly to step up at different times to keep the unbeaten season going and they all did their parts down to the very end. Seniors Tyrei Randall, EJ Reed and junior Elijah Blake — all first team All-EMAC selections — and senior Jalen Guidry all played integral roles in one of the finest seasons in school history. Guidry wasn’t needed to score much — though he had a season-high 13 points in a 66-56 win over Fort Collins on Dec. 12 — but he distributed better than anybody around with 156 total assists that tied him with Aurora Central’s Ladarius Thomas for the most in 5A. He dropped 10 dimes against Northglenn, Thornton and Brighton and he also paced the team in steals.

Guidry vs. Aurora teams: Smoky Hill (6 assists); Cherokee Trail (4 points, 9 assists); Regis Jesuit (6 assists); Gateway (7 points & 8 assists); Hinkley (5 rebounds & 5 assists); Vista PEAK (11 points & 6 assists); Aurora Central (3 points, 9 assists & 4 steals, 3 rebounds & 3 assists); Eaglecrest (10 points & 6 rebounds)
