Aurora hoops season extended with premier A-Town All-Stars game March 26

SOLOMON PROCTOR

School: Hinkley

Year: Senior

Height: 6-foot-2

2015-16 averages: 16.5 points, 1.7 assists

Season highlights: The Hinkley boys basketball team had a void to fill on the offensive side coming into the season minus Kelsey Williams — who got a fifth year of eligibility, but transferred to Aurora Central — and senior Solomon Proctor stepped up his game accordingly. Proctor averaged 13.2 points per game as a junior and improved that average by more than three points per game to help coach Calvin Kelley’s Thunderbirds reach the Class 5A state playoffs, where they lost in the opening round to perennial powerhouse Denver East to finish 9-14. Proctor’s outside shooting had a lot to do with his rise in scoring average, as he knocked down 55 3-pointers on the season (including two games with six made triples, one of those occasions coming in the playoff loss to Denver East), which was more than double his 27 from last season. He scored 20 or more points 10 times on the season — including four of the Thunderbirds’ last five games — and shredded Westminster for a season-high 37 points, which was one point off the season-high for a player from an Aurora school, the 38 of Eaglecrest’s Colbey Ross.

Proctor vs. Aurora teams: Smoky Hill (4 points); Gateway (14 points); Rangeview (2 points); Aurora Central (13 points)
