Army officials say 5 soldiers recently airlifted off Colorado’s Pikes Peak were from Fort Campbell, Ky. The soldiers were on a high-altitude training mission when they called for help and were taken off the mountain by Army helicopters. Some showed signs of dehydration and oxygen deprivation on the peak, which is over 14,000 feet high. Officials initially said one soldier suffered a broken leg, but an Army spokesman from nearby Fort Carson disputes that. He says a soldier suffered an unspecified leg injury but not a broken bone. Ten soldiers were taken to a hospital, and nine were released within two hours. One was hospitalized for observation. The soldiers are members of the 101st Airborne Combat Aviation Brigade.
