PINEDALE, Wyo. | A helicopter and ground crews are again searching for the 61-year-old brother of Colorado Sen. Mark Udall in Wyoming’s Wind River Range.
James “Randy” Udall failed to return from a solo backpacking trip as planned last week. Searchers began looking for him Friday after his family reported him missing.
Searchers were looking for signs of him over a 225 square mile area on Tuesday.
Udall is an alternative energy advocate and environmentalist from Carbondale, Colo. He’s an experienced backpacker who has hiked the Wind River many times over the past 30 years.
He signed in at the popular Elkhart Park trailhead on June 20. Sublette County sheriff’s spokesman Stephen Smith says it’s a well-marked trail over rolling country that starts at 10,000 feet.
