Red lanes are completely closed, while pink lanes have limited local business and residential access.

AURORA | The intersection of Sable Boulevard and Ellsworth Avenue will be completely closed starting this weekend for about a month’s worth of work on Aurora’s upcoming light rail line.

Regional Transportation District officials announced the closure Thursday, saying the intersection will close by 10 p.m. Sunday, May 8, to allow crews to begin installing the overhead catenary system that will power the “R” Line trains.

Chambers Road and Abilene Street are recommended alternate routes for northbound and southbound traffic, while Alameda and Sixth avenues are recommended for eastbound and westbound through traffic. Access will still be maintained for nearby residents and businesses.
