So,we need you to get your fair share of the Sentinel.
Here’s what that’s about.
A little more than a year ago, it became clear that the Sentinel was facing the fate threatening hundreds of newspapers across the country. The digital age and social media have made obsolete a business model that worked for generations.
The Sentinel had to change or fold. We chose change.
Since then, this 116-year-old newspaper has restructured as a non-profit corporation, guided by a board of directors you probably know and certainly trust.
The new owners of the Sentinel? That would be you, our community of readers, advertisers, critics and fans.
The Sentinel Board of Directors and our readers insist the Sentinel continue its century-long legacy of dependability. The Sentinel will continue to provide fact-based, non-partisan local news and features, hard-hitting editorials and critical information affecting the lives of hundreds of thousands of people every day.
A free democracy can thrive only with a free press. The news we provide every day is critical to everyone who lives in the Aurora region. We don’t charge for our newspapers, access to our website or for twice-daily delivery of our e-mail E-ditions.
Everyone, no matter who they are or what they can afford, deserves access to the news and information they need.

Even those who don’t read the Sentinel benefit from our tireless work in holding officials accountable, ensuring the workings of our governments are transparent and that there is a place where propaganda, misinformation and disinformation is dispelled.
Now, we need for you to “do” your Share.
The Sentinel is unique in offering the community “Shares” of the news company, as a community asset not unlike the Green Bay Packers, also owned by the community it benefits.
For as little as $10, you can “share” the need to sustain and strengthen the Sentinel’s ability to provide you and everyone in the Sentinel community with the news, sports, investigations and cultural features we all need and want.
We need you to Share in this critical experiment, watched by journalism activists across the nation.

The end is near, isn’t it Dave? The citizens of Aurora will not miss your unfact based journalism in the near future. Maybe George Soros is your last hope. Praying to sell stock with your socialist views in a capitalistic society is doomed to failure.
As a CPA, I’d like a article on how you believe, “any contribution could be tax deductible”. Here is one idea that I have. If I buy stock in the Sentinel Blog, when it goes bankrupt in the near future, then I could report a capital loss. Alas, even that wouldn’t work as the Sentinel isn’t even, itself. a corporate being.
Please go away, troll! There are plenty of folks who read and agree with Mr. Perry. Like you, I have been a part of finance for years. I have an MBA. Unlike you, I’ve opened my mind to find that there is a lot of manipulation within corporations and right-wing orgs. to escape responsibility and taxation. I’ve seen it close up in Texas! I’m an ardent supporter of the Sentinel and several other digital news outlets, but I won’t listen to or watch Fox because it is not a news network, it is propaganda!
Troll? What’s a troll ? Learn that in your Master’s program? Although, I will go away when there are no more socialists trying to be leaders in my community and this Sentinel Blog is gone or has a newsworthy editor and staff. You did give me a clue why you left Texas, though. Or do you still live there?
This paper holds itself out as a nonprofit. Contributions from people, companies, and Government keep the doors open. The City of Aurora through its own process seems fairly free flowing with money for projects the council feels worthwhile as a public service. So- you have to ask – is the Sentinel a worthwhile project for all of us local taxpayers? Hard telling how council might vote. But, with this proposal of asking for Aurora’s subsidy, gives the Sentinel a feel of their public value.
The Sentinel will continue to provide fact-based, non-partisan local news..
The Sentinel will continue to provide fact-based, non-partisan local news??
Are you kidding?
The Sentinel has never provided non-partisan news. I hope you can get enough money from the far-left to survive. Folks from the middle and the right of the political spectrum will pass.
Truth!
Uh, you’re not in the middle – not even close!
This paper has given us a little local news along the way with a lot of biased opinion. The stacks of free unread papers left in the news boxes around town show how little folks are taking time to pick up a copy. Dave Perry, should otherwise be happy. He can truly say as Frank Sinatra, once did – And more, much more I did it, I did it my way!
As was most often the case with Leftist radio, Liberal print struggles to attract enough readers to remain viable. The Sentinel is a glaring example of ideology trumping facts. The purposeful omissions done by Sentinel staff in their “journalism” does not engender trust in those who read their work. The stories are nearly always based on partisan opinions rather than facts. The stories often are written from a predetermined outcome instead of simply providing the story for the readers to make their own conclusions. Now we see that the Sentinel begging for money because it is a victim of its own lies and lack of journalistic integrity. The chickens have come home to roost.
I sure do enjoy the Sentinel, and read it via my computer every day. We need a local newspaper
to keep us up to date. If you don’t enjoy the Sentinel, by all means don’t read it. I don’t believe any of your comments are going to change anyone’s
enjoyment and support of the paper.
