DENVER | A severely malnourished 3-year-old girl found weighing 19 pounds in 2012 is growing with her adoptive family as her parents await sentencing in September.
KUSA-TV reports (https://on9news.tv/1HLC60F) Kenny Sanchez was convicted of felony child abuse. His wife Kathleen previously pleaded guilty to child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury. They’ll be sentenced Sept. 7.
The two were arrested in 2012 and skipped out on their bonds. They were rearrested in Alabama in 2014.
The Sanchez’s daughter Zoey was adopted by Amy and Victor Arellano. Amy says Zoey was a like a zombie when they first met her, but is now playing and in love with life.
She said no one is a winner in a situation like this.
