OLATHE, Colo. | Olathe’s former police chief has been arrested based on accusations he used the town’s tax exempt status to buy large quantities of ammunition and provide it to other people.

Ric Hawk served as Olathe police chief from 2006 until 2013, when he resigned under the cloud of an investigation by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

A grand jury indicted him on charges of misuse of official information and first-degree official misconduct in February.

The Montrose Daily Press reports (https://tinyurl.com/opbv82p ) Hawk was arrested in Mesa, Ariz.

There was no record in Colorado court files indicating whether Hawk has an attorney.

He was released on bail and a Colorado court date has not been set.
