LONGMONT, Colo. | A Boulder district judge has rejected a motion to move the trial involving a woman accused of cutting another woman’s unborn baby from her womb.

The Longmont Times-Call reports (https://goo.gl/dfbYyO ) attorneys for 35-year-old Dynel Lane had asked that the case be moved out of Boulder County, saying their client can’t receive a fair trial because of “massive, pervasive and prejudicial” media coverage.

The judge ruled Wednesday that while media coverage of the case has been extensive, articles were not written in an inflammatory or sensational manner.

Lane is charged with attempted murder, unlawful termination of a pregnancy and multiple counts of felony assault. Prosecutors say she attacked 27-year-old Michelle Wilkins on March 18. Wilkins survived but the fetus did not.

Lane’s attorney could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
