AURORA | A man died after being shot early Wednesday morning following an altercation at a home  in the 18000 block of East Mercer Drive, police said.

Police were called to the scene at about 2:30 a.m. and found a man suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.

In a statement Wednesday morning, police said the man was shot after an altercation at the home with a suspect who he knew. Detectives are still investigating the suspect’s identity, police said. No description of the suspect was released.

The Arapahoe County coroner’s office identified the slain man as 33-year-old Cliffor Eugene Wilson Jr. He died of multiple gunshot wounds, the coroner said.

Police described the victim as an adult black male, but said his identity will be released later by the Arapahoe County coroner’s office.
