AURORA | One man is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after he was struck Thursday evening by a hit-and-run driver in a reportedly stolen SUV near East Colfax Avenue and Kingston Street, police said.
According to police, the man, who has not been identified, was hit by a silver BMW SUV traveling west on Colfax. The man was not in a crosswalk and was in the center median when he was struck. Police said the pedestrian may have been at fault in the crash.
The driver fled the scene and the SUV was found abandoned a short time later near East Seventh Avenue and Moline Street. Police say the owner of the SUV called police after the crash and reported that the car was stolen earlier that evening.
Police say no arrests have been made and are questioning the registered owner.
