LOVELAND, Colo. | A man convicted of second-degree attempted murder for shooting at a Fort Collins police officer has been sentenced to 24 years in prison.

Jose Ornelas-Licano was found guilty after he shot at the officer, crashed a truck and set off a manhunt. No one was hit.

Police tried to arrest Ornelas-Licano in 2014 on outstanding warrants for failing to appear on separate drug and fraud cases. He then sped off and shot through his own windshield at a marked patrol vehicle.

According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan (https://tinyurl.com/j9j9lox ), about a dozen Fort Collins Police Services employees were in the courtroom for the sentencing.
