COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. | An Air Force major killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan worked at the Air Force Academy as an aide to the school’s commander and a foreign language instructor.

Forty-five-year-old Major Phyllis Pelky of Rio Rancho, New Mexico was of five people killed in Sunday’s crash of a British Puma helicopter in Kabul. Thirty-eight year-old Master Sgt. Gregory Kuhse of Kalamazoo, Michigan was also killed in the accidental crash along with two British airmen and a French contractor.

At the time of the crash, Pelky was working as the deputy manpower chief of the American Train, Advise and Assist Command in Kabul. The Gazette of Colorado Springs (https://bit.ly/1NGSVj1) reports that academy staffers often work overseas to meet Air Force deployment requirements.
