ARVADA, Colo. | Lockouts at an Arvada high school and elementary school have been lifted after a bear was tranquilized at the high school and removed by wildlife officials.

Jefferson County schools spokeswoman Michelle Lyng says the bear was spotted Thursday morning, and students at Ralston Valley High School and Meiklejohn Elementary were ordered to stay inside. Lyng says no students were hurt.

The high school has 1,700 students, and the elementary school has 620.

The bear was spotted by a citizen as it wandered toward the school, and police were called.
