It’s official.

The City of Aurora’s marijuana enforcement division  is open for business. Well, almost. There are at least new signs posted at the Aurora Municipal Center making it look official.

And according to city staff, the division will start scheduling pre-application meetings in June, just so people understand what they are getting into when applications open up in July for a  22-page retail marijuana ordinance with a points system that is the first of its kind in the state.

Marijuana entrepreneurs are a hardy bunch so far and have remained undeterred. City staff say  they’re already getting 10-15 calls per day about  the 24 limited spots the city will have applicants battle for. City officials created the system to ward off nothing but pot luck in getting a shop.

The system allowing for retail marijuana sales have been months in the making, and proponents say it’s high time to see what the city was expecting.
