Republican Adams County Treasurer Brigitte Grimm is running for another term, which would be her third and final.

She’s challenged by attorney and professor Lisa Culpepper, a Democrat.
The treasurer deals mostly with tax collection. Property taxes are paid on the treasury website, which are then distributed to local entities like school districts, the county, fire districts and cities in Adams County.
Grimm said she’s been a successful treasurer.
“I have spent the past eight years changing the way your treasurer’s office works for you,” she said. “My first four years were spent getting the office updated (internally) with current technology and a reorganization to meet the rapidly changing needs of our citizens.
“My next four years was spent expanding our services (externally) by listening to needs of our citizens.”
BRIGITTE GRIMM
Grimm was born in Germany and became an American citizen at 18 years old. She holds an MBA in finance and has 20-years of experience with technology, international business and management. She was elected treasurer in 2010.
LISA CULPEPPER
Lisa Culpepper has been a lawyer for over twenty years, and a Colorado resident since 1976. She’s a graduate of Regis University and a practicing attorney since 1998. Culpepper is also a professor at colleges including Red Rocks Community College.
Grimm would use another term to eliminate fees for online tax payments with credit cards, train new personnel to prepare for retirements of key staff, and advocate for seniors.
Accomplishments include expanded office hours, more ways to pay your taxes, reduced wait times and “millions” saved in operation costs.
Grimm said voters should elect her again because she is more experienced than Culpepper, more educated, and more invested in the community.
Culpepper is a business lawyer and attorney with years spent as a professor.
“I’m running because i think it’s important for Adams County taxpayers to have transparency in tax collection,” Culpepper said. “Property tax collection is such a huge part of taxation for the support of our schools.”
She said establishing “smooth” relationships between government offices are a priority for her.
