COLORADO SPRINGS | A former Colorado Springs homicide detective accused of tampering with evidence in a kidnapping case and lying about having a sexual relationship with the alleged victim has pleaded guilty to official misconduct and trying to influence a public servant.
The Gazette reports (https://goo.gl/Us0RRI) 39-year-old Paul Dewayne Patton entered his pleas Monday and is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 11.
Patton, a 15-year veteran, was placed on administrative leave in July after investigators learned about his sexual affair with the alleged victim in a kidnapping case he investigated. He resigned Oct. 1.
A lawyer for the man charged in the kidnapping case asked for the case to be dismissed because of the misconduct.
