LOVELAND, Colo. | A driver is recovering after plunging her car into icy Lake Loveland Saturday night.

The Reporter-Herald reports (https://bit.ly/21nhxSu ) that a rescuer was also hospitalized after the Saturday night accident. Both survived.

The driver was a female but was not otherwise identified. She originally told rescuers there was another person in the car, though there was no second occupant. The man she thought was there was located safe at home.

Three Loveland divers went into the water. Two divers from the Berthoud Fire Department responded to the scene to assist, as well as three Larimer County divers, although the Larimer County contingent was never deployed into the water.

The newspaper reports that the water was slushy and below 20 degrees.
