DENVER | The Denver Botanic Gardens thinks its corpse flower plant is getting ready to bloom and unleash its foul smell.

A steady stream of visitors was stopping by to see the plant, which stands just over 5 feet, in a greenhouse on Monday.

The garden had expected the flower, nicknamed Stinky, to bloom by Monday but now says it could happen later this week. Officials there say it would be the first corpse flower to bloom in the Rocky Mountain region.

It’s native to Sumatra and belongs to the same plant family as calla lilies.
