AURORA | The Arapahoe County coroner’s office identified a woman shot to death Saturday in a central Aurora apartment as Ashley Ross-Draper, 29.
Ross-Draper was found dead early Saturday morning at an apartment on407 S. Memphis Way.
The coroner said she died of multiple gunshot wounds and ruled her death a homicide.
On Sunday police arrested James Anthony Draper, 33, in connection with the slaying. Police declined to call him a suspect and instead termed him a “person of interest” in Ross-Draper’s slaying.
Aurora police spokeswoman Officer Crystal McCoy said police aren’t sure what the relationship between Draper and Draper-Ross was. She said they weren’t siblings but investigators “are still working on the exact sort of relationship they were in.”
Draper was arrested Sunday after police say he carjacked a vehicle and randomly shot at people before police arrested him following a high-speed chase Sunday.
According to jail records, Draper is being held in the Arapahoe County Jail on an attempted murder charge. Police said they’re not releasing a photograph of Draper because they think it could interfere with their investigation.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the slaying to call Detective Jamie Krieger at 303-739-6113.
Tipsters can also remain anonymous and call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters to Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a $2,000 reward.
