Groundbreaking ceremonies were held Monday at Building 600 on Aug. 3 for the construction of a new dental clinic and the renovation of the existing medical clinic.
Since its founding as an active-duty base, Buckley AFB has been the only base in the Air Force without a dental clinic on base. Personnel assigned to Buckley AFB have been considered to be in a remote area for dental care and relied on contract services or the Active Duty Dental Program. This project will reduce the productivity lost when members go off base for dental care and will ensure continuity of care in the military system. Additionally, this project meets 460th Space Wing strategic priorities for providing outstanding mission support and taking care of Buckley AFB personnel and their families.
“A new dental clinic to serve our population of 3,500 active duty beneficiaries is a great addition not only to the medical capabilities of Buckley but also to the efficiency and effectiveness of the 460th SW and all of our mission partners on base and in the local area,” said Col. Michael Kindt, 460th Medical Group commander and host for the groundbreaking. “We will be able to treat people more quickly, with less time away from duty, and provide commanders with better awareness of the dental readiness of their personnel.”
