I’m Tech. Sgt. Jonathan Britton and I’m currently serving here in Southwest Asia in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. It has been an inspiring several months getting to see the mission from the tip of the spear. It’s been a blessing to be a part of an awesome multi-national coalition force and to get to work with some of the other branches. It really makes you appreciate the diversity we have across the different branches of service and what each one brings to the table. I’ve been assigned as the disbursing agent of the financial management office here and have a variety of duties providing financial support to our forces. I also have the opportunity to work closely with contracting and make dozens of manual payments to local vendors for supplies and services we need to continue the mission of flying thousands of sorties in direct destruction of ISIS targets in the area of responsibility.
I want to take a moment to thank my home unit, the 460th Comptroller Squadron, for the continual support, encouragement and care packages that made getting through the holiday season just a little bit easier. But mostly, I want to thank my family. Heidi, Camden, Charis and Chloe have pressed on like champs in spite of the difficult circumstances. Let’s not forget to appreciate the great sacrifice of the families of deployed service members. Truthfully, my wife Heidi has had more on her plate than I have taking care of everything back home with our three small children and has done so without a single complaint.
They are the ones truly deserving of recognition. I look forward to making my way back to Colorado sometime in February and will bring with me exciting memories and experiences that will last a lifetime.
Hope everyone has a great Christmas. God bless.
