ARAPAHOE COUNTY | Road crews performing emergency repairs hope to have a stretch of northbound Buckley Road reopened late Monday afternoon, June 20, after it buckled in the weekend heat.

“Heat and concrete don’t always mix,” the county said in a statement Sunday after northbound lanes of Buckley were closed between Arapahoe Road and Peakview Avenue. The high temperatures over the weekend caused a concrete panel in the roadway to buckle.
Local law enforcement blocked off the lanes to traffic, and road crews are working to repair the panel to that northbound Buckley can reopen late Monday.
The Front Range saw high temperatures in the mid-90s this past weekend, with some areas reporting triple-digit heat in the late afternoon. Meteorologists with the National Weather Service in Boulder expect the high temperature to top out in the mid-80s for Aurora on Monday with a chance for isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, before temperatures soar again toward 100 degrees on Tuesday afternoon.
