460th Space Wing leadership recently broke ground on a new $8.5 million Security Forces facility that will provide more space and a better operational environment for Buckley’s security forces personnel.

The Consolidated Security Forces Facility will be a two-story, 35,175 square foot masonry building which will house all the base security operations including law enforcement, armory, base information and security functions. Additionally, it will provide indoor heated parking for supply and mobility equipment storage.

“The long awaited construction of our new facility is the culmination of a long journey that will mark a new beginning for the proud men and women of the 460th Security Forces Squadron. It comes as the result of the hard work and dedication of many. The airmen who pass through the doors of this facility will be at the center of gravity in defending our nation, no matter the mission or cost,” said Maj. Kenneth Shirley, 460th Security Forces Squadron commander. “This building will also be a testament of Buckley’s commitment to excellence.”

The building will be home to the 460th Security Forces Squadron, who provide police and security functions for Buckley. The building is projected to house command, administration, investigation, flight chief, training and operations functions. In addition to office facilities, the new building is also projected to include an armory, guard mount, support services and classroom functions.

“I think it’s wonderful that our defenders will have a facility that they can take pride in,” said Capt. Michael D. Keys, 460th Security Forces Squadron operations officer. “This building is accurately sized and equipped to handle all the different types of functions we perform 24-7-365.”
