• Buckley AFB assists as OSIRIS-REx makes its journey to Florida

Members from Lockheed Martin, National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the University of Arizona loaded a spacecraft on a C-17 Globemaster III, assigned to Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina, May 20 at Buckley Air Force Base.

The spacecraft being loaded was the Origins-Spectral Interpretation-Resource Identification-Security-Regolith Explorer, a robotic space probe that will intercept an asteroid named Bennu in order to gather samples to be tested for organic material.
